The sittings of the All Party Representatives Committee (APRC) would continue after the General Elections, said APRC Chairman and Science and Technology Minister Professor Tissa Vitarana. Referring to the activities of the APRC, the Minister added that the Presidential election was over and President Mahinda Rajapaksa had won a massive victory.

In this situation, the activities of the APRC which was entrusted to map out political solution to the ethnic problem would continue, he said.

The draft of the APRC resolution had been submitted to the President. Once his opinion was obtained, they would proceed further, Professor Vitarana said. The APRC had more than 100 sittings. However, further sittings would be possible only after the General Elections.

President Rajapaksa stated in his policy statement that the proposals of the APRC would be continued.

Therefore, the APRC would prepare a political solution to the national question. The UNP, TNA and the JVP are not in the APRC. However, the Minister expressed hope that he would seek the support of these parties after the elections.
