Youth Forum meets in Puttalam

Second meeting of the Youth Forum was held in the PSM regional office Puttalam on 30 January 2010. It was presided over by Ash- Shaikh H. Abdul Nasar, Chairman, Muslim Peace Assembly (MPA) of the Puttalam region. 15 representatives out of 20 from three districts of the Northern Province and Puttalam district attended the meeting.
   
PSM launches Inter-religious Forum in Puttalam

First meeting of the Puttalam Inter-religious Forum was held yesterday (10.12.09) at the PSM Regional Office. It was attended by 15 members representing all religions. The purpose of launching this forum is to create a space for interaction between the local leaders of different communities in order to promote coexistence and discourage conflicts and violence
   
Puttalam MPA highlights 19 years of forgotten expelled Muslims to media

A media conference was held by the Muslim Peace Assembly (MPA) of Puttalam at the PSM’s Puttalam regional office to coincide with the completion of 19 years of forcible eviction of Northern Muslims. A press release was issued thereafter by the MPA highlighting the concerns of the Northern IDP Muslims and the Host Community of Puttalam.

Visiting UN Envoy meets Muslim delegation at PSM

Mr. Walter Kalin, Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons together with Ms. Nina Schrepfer, Legal Advisor to the Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights of the IDPs, visited the Peace Secretariat for Muslims today (24 September 2009) for a meeting to discuss the situation of the Northern Muslim IDPs.
   
Australian Diplomat visits PSM, Batticaloa

Mrs. Sophia Mclentre, Deputy High Commissioner of Australia paid a visit to the PSM regional office in Batticaloa yesterday 31st of August 2009. The intent of her visit was to discuss the situation of Muslims in the East particularly with regard to issues of security, development, political and economic situations in the post war context.
   
NMA Executive Committee Inaugural Meeting

The NMA Executive Committee Inaugural meeting was held on 25th August 2009 at the PSM National Office, Colombo. The purpose of this meeting was to select Chair Person for the NMA Executive Committee, select members for vacant positions and to follow up recommendations from the NMA Pre-Launch Workshop.

A pre-launch workshop to plan the launching, operation and scope of the National Muslim Assembly was organized by the PSM from 14th  16th August, 2009 at Amaya Hills, Kandy.
   
MPA Orientation Workshop

An orientation workshop was organized by the ARD and PSM from 29th to 31st May 2009 to introduce and give a clear understanding on the ARD supported SuRG (Supporting Regional Governance) programme to the PSM regional staff and members of the Muslim Peace Assemblies (MPA). This three day workshop held at Chaaya Village, Habarana was designed for participants to identify respective regional issues and concerns and to formulate policies and stragetise specific activities in the present context.
   
CM meets Ampara MPA/PSM
