Director of the Kalladi Police Training School - Superintendent of Police H.L.Jamaldeen was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while he was returning home after shopping at his home town in Maruthamunai, Kalmunai. He was waylaid at a cross road on his way while he was riding in a mobike with his daughter. The assilants have point blankly shot at him and the daughter was unhurt.

Soon after the incident he was rushed to the Ashraff Memorial Hospital in Kalmunai where he succumbed to his injuries little later. The Kalmunai Police sources stated that he was shot dead by the LTTE pistol gang.

He was a sportsman, social worker and President of the Board of Trustees of Masjid -ul - Kabeer, Maruthamunai. He was 55 years and leaves behind his wife and 4 children.
