Meanwhile, the Supreme Court in another application yesterday informed the Attorney General to consider providing security to UNP parliamentarians whose securities were withdrawn following the dissolution of parliament.

They had cited Police Chief Mahinda Balasuiriya, Ministerial Security Division DIG P.A. Sarath Perera, MSD director Upali Kumarasiri, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Elections Chief Dayananda Dissanayake and the Attorney General as respondents. The petitioners said parliament was dissolved on February 9 and the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) was asked to withdraw the police personnel engaged providing them security.
