Second meeting of the Youth Forum was held in the PSM regional office Puttalam on 30 January 2010. It was presided over by Ash- Shaikh H. Abdul Nasar, Chairman, Muslim Peace Assembly (MPA) of the Puttalam region. 15 representatives out of 20 from three districts of the Northern Province and Puttalam district attended the meeting.

The MPA Chairman made the key note address and some of the points he outlined are as follows:

• Whether the members of this forum feel the necessity of this forum
• The first mission of a leader is to galvanize the members and who come under him
• The definition for the words  of Youth and Forum and the responses from the audience
• The definition of Forum is a place to express yourself
• Youth related problems ( Education, Employment, Language, Marriage and Political issues )
• The need of dedication and commitment of the president and the secretary to a forum to function effectively
• The need to take and handle small issues and matters  to work continuously without any interruption

The MPA Chairman who was also the resource person of the event explained to the members of the Youth Forum important issues that need to be addressed and gave them examples of the prevailing education and employment problems faced by the youth in the district. He also presented on how to write small project proposals on these subjects and explained the concept of problem solving and challenge faced by the participants.

A presentation on the issues faced by the Muslims of the country in the educational sector was done by the Deputy Secretary of MPA Mr. J.Z.A Namaz. He spoke about the responsibility of each individual in this regard and cited some examples from the sources of Islam. He requested the members of the youth forum to function continuously with dedication and commitment for the greater interest of the community.

The members were divided into groups and each group requested discuss issues related to education faced by the youth and analyse this issue in different context. Group leaders presented their findings after discussion.

The board of office bearers was dissolved with the unanimous decision of the members and a new set of office bearers was elected unanimously.  They are:

• Secretary:            Mr. S.I.M. Thasleem (Puttalam)
• Deputy Secretary: Mr. M.S.M. Musthakeem  (Mannar )
